Funeral will be 1 pm Thursday at Dwight Baptist Church for Mr. Michael “Mike : Logan age 71 of Gadsden who died Sunday. Reverend Wayne Hostetter will officiate. Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery.
Mike was a 1964 graduate of Emma Sansom High School, was an Army Sgt. having served in The Fife and Drum Corp Honor Guard in Washington D.C having received White House clearance under President Richard M. Nixon.He attended The Naval School of Music at Virginia Beach Virginia, He was a retired educator working with Special Needs and Gifted students for over 40 years known as a gifted specialist teacher. He was a graduate of Jacksonville State and returned to college at the University Of Alabama receiving a double A Degree and was proud of playing in The Million Dollar Band,he was active in The Lions Club, The American Legion, past president of Emma Sansom Band Club, President of The Midsouth Marching Band Festival, was named Teacher of The Year in Etowah County ,member of Alabama Education Association ,served on Gadsden water board, voting poll chairman district six, Mike was a Christian and longtime member of Dwight Baptist Church and loved serving as Children’s Sunday School Class Teacher..
He is preceded in death by his son Douglas Logan, father Robert Logan, brother in laws Ronnie King and Steve Brackett.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years Sherry Logan, son Daniel (Christy) Logan ,mother Katherine Logan Brown, mother in-law Frances Waldrop, sister in law Judy Brackett, Kathy(Jimmy) Elrod and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Family and friends.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 6 until 8 pm.
