Obituary for Mary Frances McCoy (Pearce)

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., on Monday, May 22,2017, at Crestwood Chapel, Gadsden, Alabama, for our beautiful and precious Mother, Mary Frances Pearce McCoy, of Gadsden, who passed away on May 18, 2017, at home surrounded by loved ones. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. with service to follow. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. McCoy was born in Whitfield, Alabama and moved to Gadsden, Alabama with her family at the age of five. She graduated from Gadsden High School in 1942 and began a life-time career with the Federal Governmant. She retired from Civil Service in 1983 after receiving numerous awards and commendations during her many years of service. Mrs. McCoy was a Methodist by faith.

Mrs. McCoy took great pride in her family and home and won the neighborhood Gadsden Beautification Award in 2004. She enjoyed decorating her home with friend Catherine Logan and hosted numerous parties for family and friends celebrating special occasions. She was a member of and participated in the Ms. Senior Etowah County Beauty Pageant wherein she was awarded Miss Congeniality. She was also a member of The North Gadsden Garden Club where she made many loving and cherished friendships.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Horace Emanuel McCoy, Sr.; parents, William Elbert Pearce and Minnie Lee Edwards Pearce; brothers, William E. Pearce, Jr., Eugene Nathaniel Pearce, and William Robert Pearce, and in-laws, Robert and Maude McCoy Barber She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Louise (Earl) Bass of Warner Robins, Georgia; cherished sister-in-law, Linda Pearce and Carol Pearce, and special cousin, Helen Cain.

Mrs. McCoy leaves behind her loving and devoted family; son, Horace E. (Donna O'Kelley) McCoy, Jr. (Albertville); and daughters, Patsy Ann (Dennis) Yother (Gadsden) and Cathye Louise (Keith) Mayo (Attalla); grandsons, Bobby (Nickie) Pylant (Southside) and Chad McCoy (Troy, TN); granddaughters, Jennifer (Kacee) Stevens (Bronx, NY), Misty (Tony) Parker (Union City, TN) and Tyndall (Steve) McClellan (Southside); great-grandchildren, Cody Pylant, Kaleigh Pylant, Isaac and Ethan McCoy (twins), J'Coy and Mia Parker (twins), and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Dennis Yother, Bobby Pylant, Cody Pylant, Chad McCoy, Steve McClellan, and Nate Pearce. Honorary pallbearers will be Keith Mayo, Kacee Stevens, Earl P. Bass, Gary White, and Tommy White.

The family would like to thank AlaCare Home Health & Hospice Nurse Lindsey Dupree. The family extends a very special thank you to her caregivers and especially to her life-long friend and companion, Wanda Moore, for her many years of care, concern, friendship and love.
